ALGANT is a study and research track in Pure Mathematics through Europe and the World, focused on ALgebra, Geometry And Number Theory. Its members are the Universities of Bordeaux (France), Chennai (India), Leiden (Netherlands), Milano (Italy), Concordia (Canada), Padova (Italy), Paris-Sud (France) and Stellenbosch (South Africa). Associated partners are the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (Muizenberg, South Africa), the Centre de Recherches Mathématiques and the Institut des Sciences Mathématiques (Montreal, Canada) and the National Center for Theoretical Sciences (Taipei, Taiwan).

The ALGANT Master is an integrated two-year world-class master course taught in English. It has been selected in 2004 and again in 2009 by the European Commission as an Erasmus Mundus Master Course (EMMC) and is the only Mundus Master in pure mathematics so far, attracting students from all over the world.
Students attend courses in at least two partner institutions, following individually tailored study programmes. Upon completing the requirements of the programme, they are awarded a double and/or joint nationally recognised degree.
Newly graduated students will be able to apply to high-level doctoral programmes worldwide or can envisage working in companies looking for the know-how we teach.

ALGANT-DOC is joint doctoral programme, selected in 2009 by the European Commission for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate (EMJD).
It is a collaborative scheme creating ideal conditions for the production of high-level research, leading to a double and/or joint doctor degree, prepared under joint supervision at, at least, two partner institutions. Within ALGANT-DOC, the doctoral candidates will acquire the expertise and skills needed to pursue a career at the highest academic level.

Joint activities are organized every year and the curriculum is enriched by special courses taught by visiting scholars.
